Diary Update July 2006
Most of our activities this month have involved our first visitors from England, my friend Julie and her daughter, Steff (17). What a great time we have had and it has really made us appreciate where we live even more. Julie and Steffi arrived at Brisbane Airport on Tuesday 11th July and returned to the UK on 3rd August.
We have all enjoyed having them here, although the first night they were here Jonathan was ill and vomited all over. In my haste to get him to the bathroom quickly, I didn’t realise in the dark that he had already vomited on the tiles in the dining room and actually skidded and fell on my backside right in the middle of it.
Julie thought this was hilarious when the story was relayed to them the following day and Jonathan, quite seriously told me that he thought that my bum had got bigger after I had fallen in his sick. After Jonathan was ill, Nicola followed, then Steffi and Tony and even Julie was a bit off colour one day. I was the only one who wasn’t affected.
Everyone was well again within a couple of days and then their holiday really started. During their stay we went to Seaworld a couple of times, Movieworld, Wet n Wild, Dreamworld twice to see Big Brother which was fantastic. We also toured around and saw the Hinze Dam, Surfers Paradise, Burleigh Beach, Springbrook, Tamborine Mountain, we swam at Currumbin beach and I think the girls shopped at every shopping centre in the Gold Coast and beyond! Our Jonathan even got to see the WWE wrestler, Stone Cold Steve Austin at Movieworld and got a signed autograph of him which takes pride of place in his bedroom.
Some nights we ate out, others we stayed in, ate and drank, watched Big Brother and played Uno. We also had a party for the few people we know out here, which was also a really good night.
The down side of their visit was our planned pool wasn’t quite ready and hasn’t actually got any water in it (didn’t stop Julie stripping off and climbing in after a few drinks at the party though!).
Julie and Steffi are now at home (probably exhausted – I know I am!) and we are all missing them, the house seems really quiet now. Julie even had the cheek to write a review on their stay and accommodation and insisted that we added it to the website.
It wont be long now until our next visitors arrive, Tony’s mam and dad are coming out in September.
